Q: How do I submit coins to NGC for grading and authentication? 

A: There are several ways to submit coins to NGC for grading and authentication:

  1. Join the NGC Collectors Society and send coins directly to NGC.
  2. Submit through an official NGC Submission Center or submit through an NGC Dealer. Click here for a list of NGC Submission Centers. To find a dealer near you, visit the NGC Dealer Locator.

Q: How do I become an NGC Dealer?

A: You must apply to become an NGC Dealer. Contact NGC Customer Service and request a copy of the NGC Dealer application.

Q: What coins are accepted by NGC for grading and authentication? 

A: NGC grades most US, World, and ancient coins. For specific questions, please contact NGC Customer Service. NGC will not encapsulate coins that are not genuine, have questionable authenticity, or are altered. NGC also does not encapsulate coins with surface residue, including PVC. Coins with residue should be sent to Numismatic Conservation Services (NCS), an affiliated company, prior to being graded by NGC.

Q: What is a Details Grade?

A: A Details Grade describes the amount of wear or metal loss due to circulation. NGC assigns Details Grades to coins that have detrimental surface conditions, such as excessive surface hairlines or damage.
